- 2003 - Chat Noir was established in August 2003 by Daniel J. Fox and Mark Ellingham, both graduates of the North Wales School of Art & Design (now part of the new 'Glyndŵr University').
Since then, the company has steadily expanded its corporate customer list to include - from across the UK - clients as diverse as:
- The Chancery Bar Association
- The Alarm

Deep Sea Leisure PLC.
- 2005 - Chat Noir started development on its first feature film: Dreamscape. Post-production ended 2008.
- 2006 - Chat Noir collaborated with Loyalty Binds Me, filming the documentary Middleham Castle: A Royal Residence.

- 2008 - Chat Noir opened its in-house facilities (originally formed to work exclusively on Dreamscape), to external clients. These provide Computer special effects, props, music and sound design for TV & Film.
